1. Introduction

Welcome to Squish ("we", "our", or "us"). Squish is a local video processing application available on iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the Squish app and this website.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Our core design principle is local-first processing: all video and audio processing operations are performed entirely on your device. We do not operate servers that process your media files.

2. Information We Do Not Collect Directly

The Squish app is designed to collect as little information as possible. Specifically, we do not directly collect:

The app sends privacy-limited usage events and anonymous crash and error diagnostics to help us understand feature success and fix stability problems. These reports contain no media or file names — see Section 6 (Third-Party Services) for full details. Usage analytics can be disabled in the app's Settings.

If you choose to watch optional rewarded ads, advertising partners may process limited data such as device identifiers, advertising identifiers, consent status, approximate location signals, and ad interaction data as described in Section 6.3.

No account required. Squish does not require you to create an account or sign in to use any feature. You can use the full app anonymously.

3. How the App Works — Local Processing

All video and audio processing in Squish is performed locally on your device using FFmpeg. This means:

4. App Permissions

Squish requests the following device permissions solely to deliver its core functionality:

4.1 Photo Library / Media Access

Used to let you select videos from your camera roll as input for processing, and to save processed videos back to your photo library. Files accessed through this permission are read locally on-device; they are never transmitted.

4.2 File System Access (iOS Files / Android SAF)

Used to let you open video files from cloud storage providers (e.g., iCloud Drive) or local storage through the operating system's file picker. No file data is transmitted by Squish.

4.3 Share Extension (iOS)

Squish registers as a share target so you can send videos from other apps (e.g., Photos, Files, browsers) directly into Squish. Shared files are handled locally; they are copied to the app's sandbox for processing only.

4.4 Advertising Identifier, Tracking Consent, and Location Purpose Strings

Squish includes optional rewarded ads that let you earn in-app credits. On iOS, the app may ask for tracking permission before ad partners use the advertising identifier for personalized ads. Some advertising SDKs may also reference location-related APIs; Squish does not need your location for video editing, but ad partners may use approximate location signals to serve ads where permitted by your device settings and applicable consent rules.

You may revoke any permission at any time in your device's Settings app. Revoking a permission will limit the functionality that depends on it, but will not affect previously processed files.

5. Data Storage

All data produced by Squish (processed video files, draft files, app settings) is stored exclusively in the app's local sandbox on your device:

This data is accessible only by the Squish app. It is not synced to any cloud service by Squish itself (though your device's OS-level backup settings may include it in device backups — this is outside of our control).

You can delete all app data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing the app data from your device settings.

6. Third-Party Services

Squish uses the privacy-limited third-party services described below. None of them receive your media content from Squish.

6.1 Anonymous Usage Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

Squish uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand whether important flows such as media import, local processing, and export work successfully. Analytics may process a pseudonymous app-instance identifier, app and device information, approximate region, and coarse interaction events.

Analytics is used only for product measurement and is not used by Squish for advertising or remarketing. See the Google Privacy Policy.

6.2 Crash Diagnostics (Sentry)

To keep the app stable across the wide range of devices, video formats, and codecs it must handle, Squish uses Sentry to report crashes and unexpected errors. This diagnostic data is strictly limited:

Crash diagnostics are processed by Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry) on our behalf. See the Sentry Privacy Policy.

6.3 Rewarded Ads (Google AdMob)

Squish shows optional rewarded ads so you can earn credits. Rewarded ads are provided by Google AdMob. Google may process limited information needed to request, load, measure, and serve ads, such as device information, advertising identifiers, consent choices, approximate location signals, IP address, and ad interaction data.

Where required, Squish asks for consent before ads-related data is used. On iOS, Squish may also show Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before ad partners use the advertising identifier for personalized ads. If you buy Lifetime Premium, rewarded ads are removed from the app experience.

6.4 App Stores

The app is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Those platforms have their own privacy practices governed by their respective privacy policies. We encourage you to review:

7. This Website

This website (the Squish landing page) may collect standard server-side access logs (IP address, browser user agent, pages visited, timestamps) solely for operational purposes such as detecting abuse or diagnosing technical issues. These logs are not linked to your identity and are not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

This website does not use advertising trackers, third-party analytics, or persistent tracking cookies beyond what is technically necessary to serve the page.

8. Children's Privacy

Squish is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. International Users

Because Squish processes your media locally on your device, there is no cross-border transfer of your video, audio, or image content attributable to us. Third-party services described in Section 6 may process limited analytics, diagnostic, advertising, consent, or store-related data in accordance with their own privacy policies. If you contact us via email, your message data may be processed in accordance with applicable laws in the jurisdiction where our email provider operates.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability. Because Squish does not collect or store account data or media files, there is generally no app account data for us to provide, correct, or delete.

If you believe we hold any personal data about you (for example, from a support inquiry), you may contact us at the address below to exercise your rights.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users (for example, via a notice on this website or within the app).

Your continued use of Squish after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
